Ship picture submitted by Jim Pearce

Here is a picture of the D from (57), after the LCVP's had been replaced by the Liberty Launches.  Note:  Taken before the removal of the after Mounts. Actually, she was a very clean ship, and probably never looked better in her history. I was able to select the D from about 15 ships, as I had first choice in my Class A School.
A Chief that I worked with suggested that "she would be a good feeder" (she was). She took care of us, and we took care of her, and we got the job done. I know that all of the "Cannon Cockers" that served on DD,'s and Cruisers thought it was great, but When I saw the keel out of the water during repo. I knew who had it best.
The first conveyors (called the Whammy) was on #4 Hatch and I worked from the Bull wheel to topside controls on it, (How I miss the days, and nights.   Jim Pearce DC-3  (57)
