| Ship is made out of Balsa wood, cardboard, joint compound, paper clips, toothpicks, paper clips and Elmer's wood glue | |
|
|
| It's not exactly built to scale(41 1/2 inches in length). Maybe someone can break that down for a 455 ft. ship and the beam is 6 1/2 inches. There should be four decks above the main deck, I manage to only put three. I made it with the aft gun mounts in place. It's 19 inches high from keel to top of main mast and there is no cargo in the hole to handle and no sailors on board. Robert Queen (55-59 crew member). | |

Hi guys,
Here are some pictures I
took in 1954 from the top of the forward mast. Sort of a
"God's view" of the "D". Do with them
what you will.
I was up there replacing
the bulbs in the aircraft warning light.
I'll bet you 'Sparkys'
were up that mast a couple of times yourselves.
